August 2025
August is a quiet month for us, so we decided to put our time to good use and had a huge tidy-up of the office. We found lots of old and interesting items, including working papers dating back to the 80’s (before accountants even used spreadsheets!) and elegant incorporation certificates going as far back as the 60’s, before everything was done online.
Perhaps the most interesting item we found was a sign from our previous office in Victoria Avenue. Small and faded, the text reads: “E J Clouder & Co, established 1962. Certified Accountants. Michael G Elford FCCA, David J Osborn ACCA”.
It seems fitting that Sam, Mike and David’s successor, should be the one to hold the sign for the photo.
Not only was it fascinating for the team to glimpse into the past and see how the industry has changed over the years, but it was a reminder of just how far Clouders has come. Some of our current clients have been with us since day one, having originally signed up with Ernie Clouder himself!

With the surge in heat, we decided it was perfect time to host the first ever Clouders staff BBQ. This led the team to get together and catch up, refraining from discussing the latest accounting news (as much as we would have liked to!)

Keen runner and admin assistant Rebecca, completed the Southend half marathon this month for Havens Hospice, raising £315 for the charity! We are all proud of her for this accomplishment and wish all the best for future runs!
