Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our reputable accountancy practice.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our clients, ensuring the bookkeeping is completed to a high standard that is suitable for the year-end Accounts. They will also be responsible for submitting VAT returns, MTD ITSA returns and supporting clients with general queries, becoming one of their key points of contact.
The candidate will also be supporting the payroll department as and when required, therefore payroll experience is essential.
We are a small and friendly firm that provide great support for our staff. Whilst some training will be provided, a minimum of two years' experience is essential. We are open to both full-time and part-time applicants and hybrid working arrangements can be discussed.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain clients’ bookkeeping using accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage 50.
Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial data is correctly recorded
Prepare VAT returns, payroll, MTD ITSA returns and other statutory reports as required
Posting Opening Balance Adjustments following completion of annual accounts
Liaise with clients to resolve any discrepancies or queries related to their accounts
Maintain organised filing systems for all financial records
Assisting the payroll department with submissions and answering client queries.
Requirements
Proven experience in bookkeeping within an accountancy practice or similar environment
Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks and Sage 50.
Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Payroll experience
A recognised qualification in bookkeeping or accountancy is desirable but not essential
This role is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys hands-on client work and is looking for a stable, long-term position with an employer who values their contribution.
Pay: £26,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
Leigh-on-Sea SS9 1JL: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Bookkeeping: 2 years (required)
